Ceenu Information

Ceenu is a medicine for treating people who have brain tumors, Hodgkin’s disease or another form of cancer. As an alkylating agent, Ceenu, also lomustine, can be used alone or together with other medicines. It interrupts the growth of cancer cells and damages them eventually. It can affect the growth of normal body cells too. Thus, Ceenu can cause serious side effects and needs close monitoring by the doctor. However, some effects when using Lomustine are normal and harmless.

How To Use

Use Ceenu the way it is prescribed by the doctor. Don’t take a larger or a smaller dose than needed. Also, take Ceenu for the stipulated duration. If you notice one or more capsules that look different, don’t panic. This is okay and is not an error. Take all your capsules as directed by the physician. These should not be broken, crushed or opened. In fact, you are encouraged to use gloves when handling them.

If taking other medicines, ensure that you take each at a time without mixing. Your doctor can give you a proper daily dosing routine. Note that Lomustine can cause nausea and vomiting. These problems should go away without treatment before the end of the day. To reduce abdominal problems, take Ceenu when going to bed and on an empty stomach.

Side Effects

Ceenu can cause the following common side effects:

• Sore throat, sores, ulcers, or white marks on the lips or inside the mouth
• Strange bruising or bleeding
• Breathing difficulty
• Strange fatigue or weakness.

Report any adverse side effects to the doctor. These may include mental confusion, fever, blood urine or stools, black or tarry stools and so on.

Precautions

Prior to using this medication, tell the doctor the following about your health:

• You are prone to allergies. If you do, let the doctor know the signs you normally develop
• Age-related kidney problems and so might require a dose adjustment to take Ceenu safely
• A health condition for which you are taking medicines that might interact negatively with Ceenu. It should not be used along with a vaccine for the measles virus, mumps virus, rotavirus, rubella virus, varicella virus or zoster. State any other vaccination you are about to take or have taken recently
• Leukopenia
• Bone marrow issues
• Anemia
• Lung disease
• Thrombocytopenia or having a low platelet count in your blood
• Chickenpox
• Herpes zoster or shingles.
