How do I use Lumigan (Bimatoprost)? 

Lumigan (Bimatoprost) may be used with other eye drops used to lower intraocular pressure. If using more than one ophthalmic product, wait at least 5 minutes between administration of each medication. 

Remove contact lenses prior to the administration of Lumigan (Bimatoprost), waiting at least 15 minutes before re-inserting them.

Make sure your hands are clean and that you do not touch the tip of the dropper.

What is the recommended dosage?

It is typically dosed as 1 drop into the affected eye(s) once daily but take as directed by your doctor.

What if I miss a dose?

What should you know before you take Lumigan (Bimatoprost)?

Macular edema, bacterial keratitis, corneal effects, ocular effects, ocular inflammation, and iridocorneal angle can occur with use. 

Efficacy and safety has not been determined for use in those with angle-closure, inflammation, or neovascular glaucoma. 

Contact lens users: 

• Some topical solution formulations contain benzalkonium chloride, which can be absorbed and cause discoloration of soft contact lenses. 
• Remove contacts prior to administration of Lumigan (Bimatoprost). Wait at least 15 minutes before re-inserting contact lenses. 

The manufacturer states that an increased risk of major birth defects/miscarriages have not been observed after the use of bimatoprost ophthalmic drops in pregnant patients. Speak with your provider if you are pregnant or plan on becoming pregnant. 

What are the side effects of Lumigan (Bimatoprost)?

Some common side effects include:

• Conjunctival hyperemia
• Erythema of eyelid, erythema of skin, hypertrichosis, hypertrichosis of eyelid 
• Local skin hyperpigmentation 
• Blurred vision, conjunctival edema, dry eye syndrome, eye irritation, eye pain, eye pruritus
