Durezol Information

Durezol is a corticosteroid medication for treating eye pain and inflammation after surgery. Also promoted as difluprednate ophthalmic emulsion, Durezol is also prescribed for treatment of anterior uveitis inflammation affecting the front area of the eye. It stops the release of substances that trigger inflammation in the body.

How To Use

It is extremely necessary to use Durezol exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Follow every guideline given, including the duration of usage. Some people may receive two different bottles of the medication. It is necessary that you use one bottle in each eye. This can help stop an infection from spreading from one eye to the other. Mark your bottles to know the one for the right and left eye.

To apply, wash your hands first and remove your contact lenses. Then, tilt your head slightly backward and pull down a lower eyelid to form a little pocket. Hold the dropper above this eye, look up and away and squeeze out a drop into the conjuctival sac of the eye. Close the eye for one to two minutes with your head looking down. Don’t blink or squint.

You may also press the inside corner of your eye to keep the medicine inside the eye. If using a different eye drops medicine, wait at least ten minutes to use the next one. Use this medicine four times a day for two weeks to treat postoperative ocular inflammation. Then use twice a day for one week. Then continue as directed by your doctor.
