Hypomagnesemia, although rarely reported, can occur with prolonged use of PPI therapy (3 months +).
Vitamin B12 deficiency can occur with prolonged use of PPIs (2 years +) due to vitamin B12 malabsorption.
Acute tubular nephritis has been observed in those taking PPIs and can occur at any time.
