Rabeprazole belongs to a class of medications called proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). Other common medications in this class are omeprazole and lansoprazole.

Rabeprazole is used for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) or heartburn, H.pylori infections, and to treat other gastric hypersecretion conditions.

Rabeprazole works by inhibiting proton pumps in the stomach which leads to a less acidic gastric environment.


How to take Rabeprazole?

Rabeprazole tablets should be swallowed whole unless it is the Aciphex Capsule Sprinkle formulation. This formulation can be sprinkled onto food. Rabeprazole tablets can be taken with or without food. If rabeprazole is being used to treat a duodenal ulcer, it should be taken after a meal.
