Combipatch Information
When a woman hits the menopause, it can be something that completely changes her life. Whether it is hot flushes or vaginal itching, there needs to be something to alleviate the symptoms. Combipatch is made up of Estradoil which is a female sex hormone and Norethindrone which is a progesterone meaning that it is able to regulate menstruation and ovulation. As well as being used during the menopause, it can also be used before the symptoms start. If there is ovarian failure or hypogonadism it can deal with the lack of estrogen.
How To Use
As with many medications the lowest possible dose should be used to begin with. They should also use Combipatch for the shortest possible time. At the moment there is little evidence to say what level is low and still effective. Combipatch can be used at any time providing the woman is not already using combination estrogen or continuous estrogen as well as progestin therapy. If they are then it should not be used until they have competed the current cycle.
Once in place the patch should be secured for 10 seconds. The breast should not be used or anywhere where the skin is oily. It should not be on for more than 4 days and when replaced, another patch of skin should be used.
