How do I take Toviaz? 

Toviaz should be taken as directed by your physician. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablets as it will impair the extended release mechanism.

Toviaz is available as brand 4mg and 8mg tablets.  

What is the recommended dosage?

Initially, 4mg once daily is recommended but the dose can increase to a max of 8mg once daily. But take as directed by your doctor.

Patients have reported experiencing angioedema (swelling of the tongue) while taking Toviaz. If you have any swelling of the face, tongue, or throat it should be treated as a medical emergency. 

If you have significant obstruction of your bladder you should use this medication cautiously in that it can cause more significant urinary retention. 

Patients who have existing problems with constipation should exercise caution while on this medication as it can make their symptoms worse. Talk to your doctor if you have significant constipation symptoms. 

Patients with controlled narrow-angle glaucoma should use this medication with caution.
