What is Entocort?

Entocort is a prescription medication that is classified as a corticosteroid.


What is Entocort used for? 

It is used for the treatment of mild to moderate Crohn’s disease in patients 8 years of age and older. It is also used to maintain clinical remission of mild to moderate Crohn’s disease in adults for up to 3 months.

How does it work? 

It is a corticosteroid that exerts its anti-inflammatory effects by binding to glucocorticoid receptors. By binding to these receptors, Entocort inhibits the release of inflammatory mediators and also inhibits cytokine-mediated immune responses.


How do I take Entocort ? 

Entocort should be taken as directed by your doctor. It is important to note, the number of capsules may need to be adjusted based on your response to this medication but it is still typically dosed once daily. These capsules should not be crushed or chewed prior to use.

What dosages are available?

Entocort is available as brand and generic 3 mg capsules.

What is the recommended dosage?
