Paxil is a prescription medication that is classified as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) and antidepressant.


What is Paxil used for? 

It is used for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD), panic disorder (PD), social anxiety disorder, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).

How does it work? 

While its exact mechanism as an antidepressant are not well defined, Paxil potentiates the effects of serotonin and inhibits neuronal reuptake of serotonin which may be linked to its antidepressant effects.


How do I take Paxil?
